About Matala Crete Greece
Matala has a unique position between the chalk rocks. Lots of caves give a characteristic look at this romantic village. In the sixties, Matala was the famous meeting point of the hippies. Nowadays the caves can be visited only during the day. The caves are very impressive and a must to visit.

Matala is also an ideal starting point for outings and excursions to the archaeological sites but you can also do horse riding, carting, scuba diving and playing football or basketball.
Matala is about 70 km distance from Heraklion city and you can drive through here in about 1 hour by bus, taxi or your own car.
